It has been acknowledged that the Forum is well placed to act as a focus for other insured perils as the skills required in handling subsidence claims can be extended into these other areas. This group will study the lessons learnt from past experience and develop best practice and guidance based on these experiences.
The proposed subjects for consideration by the group are:
Asbestos – identifying problems with lack of expertise
Oil and other contaminants - spillage etc and the cost of decontamination
Flood Resilience - Building this into future construction
Building Regulations – insulation, fire, flood damage etc,
Health & Safety – there was little guidance on H&S as it referred to insurance repairs
Escape of water claims – a new area to address in the context of additional en suite bathrooms, plastic pipe’s etc which all lead to additional costs
